Watson Family Update – Summer 2025

Updated: Aug 29

Dear Friends,

We want to start this update with a big thank you. Your love, prayers, and support mean more to us than we can say. Every message, prayer, and gift has carried us through this season of life and ministry in London. We’re so grateful you’re walking this journey with us.

As we continue with church planting in London, we want to share some highlights of family life, new friendships, and ways you can pray and partner with us in this exciting season.

New friends in Paddington

ree

God has been so kind as we’ve settled into our neighborhood of Paddington. Lucy’s new school is just down the street from our flat, which has opened doors to meet other families. She’s already made a close friend from school who has started coming along to Story Church — and Laura has built a great friendship with her mom too.

We’ve also grown close to Elvis, who owns the café and laundromat above our flat. He’s become like an “uncle” to the kids, often spoiling them with juice and sweets. Jack even calls out “Elvis!” when he wants to go upstairs for a visit.

On top of that, God surprised us with new friends who live just around the corner — and they’re from Dallas! They’ve been an answered prayer and such a gift in this season. These kinds of relationships remind us why mission in London is so relational — God works through everyday connections.

🚁 Jack is growing!

ree

Jack has been on the move lately! Though he started walking a little later than expected, he’s now unstoppable and will turn two years old in September.

He loves helicopters (Living in London means he sees them often), “Tractor Ted,” biscuits (cookies), and anything with wheels. He’s also getting quite cheeky, trying to sneak cookies from the tea jar. Watching his joyful little personality grow has been such a blessing to our family life in London.

🦄 Lucy is starting Reception

ree

Lucy is turning five this September and she is full of curiosity and creativity. She loves unicorns, crafts, and is a wonderfully kind big sister to Jack.

She’ll be starting Reception (Kindergarten) this autumn, and her teachers have already described her as helpful, bright, and creative. We’re so thankful for her small, family-like school community and are praying this will be a place where she thrives in friendships and learning. Please join us in praying for her as she takes this big step.

Nana came to London!

ree

This summer we had the joy of welcoming Adam’s mom, Nana, to London. Some dear friends offered us their home in Richmond while they were away, and it was the perfect little retreat. We spent time in the garden, explored Kew Gardens, cooked in a big kitchen, and even had fun dog-sitting.

Afterwards, Nana came back to our Paddington flat and got to experience our daily rhythms of family life in London. It was such a blessing to have her here. Soon, we’re heading north to Scotland to spend time with Laura’s parents during the school holiday — something we’re all really excited about.

How you can pray and partner with us

As a family, we’re right on the cusp of establishing Story Church London. It’s an exciting time, but also one where we’re leaning deeply on God’s strength and provision. Would you join us in praying?

  • For Story Church London – that God would draw people to Himself, raise up leaders, and form a gospel-centered community in Paddington.

  • For Lucy and Jack – as they grow, learn, and settle into new rhythms in London.

  • For friendships and community – that God would deepen the relationships He’s already given us and open doors for the gospel.

  • For strength and provision – balancing ministry and family life in London is stretching; pray for endurance and joy.

  • For our financial support needs – we are trusting God to provide through generous partners who share the vision of planting churches and sending missionaries from London to the nations.

If you’d like to partner with us, you can support the Watsons here. Your generosity makes it possible for us to continue our calling of church planting in London and sharing the gospel with people from all nations.

With gratitude,

Adam, Laura, Lucy & Jack Watson
